What is Social Behavior?

Social behavior is the way a person behaves in a social environment, typically involving other people. It includes verbal and nonverbal communication, in addition to the individual's overall body language, which is shaped by emotions, cultural norms, thought processes, and more. It is essential for the functioning of any social structure and the successful interactions between individuals. The ways in which we act, our body language and facial expressions all have an influence on the way we interact with our peers and are a direct result of our social behavior. For instance, if someone approaches with a smile, this is seen as a sign of friendliness, which often encourages further conversation. However, if someone receives a blank stare or an unfriendly expression, this usually shows the other person that the communication is not welcome.
